Wageningen University ( WU ) – The Netherlands

HPC-WU forms part of Wageningen university  and represents one of its oldest disciplines. Prof. J. Sprenger founded it in 1917 and it is one of approximately 90 chairs within the University. Dutch horticulture is of great importance for the national economy and has a leading position in the world. To maintain this prominent position well-trained executives and fundamental research of high quality are of vital importance. WU research is based on a systems analytical approach of product quality optimisation and maintenance and is aimed at determining the physiological and morphological-anatomical basis for the differences in the quality attributes of ornamentals, vegetables and fruits. WU is  particularly interested in the non-linear interactions between the different variables that determine the development of quality traits. The aim is to minimize transport and waste in the whole supply chain and create the possibility of supply chain management with quality guarantees on a global scale.

Role in the project

This partner play an important role in the project because of high practical and theoretical experience about the greenhouses. WU group with lead the EQS initiation and optimisation guidelines and evaluation of field tests. They will also provide the necessary input to design the optimised reference greenhouses which will be used in the auditing software system for benchmarking purposes.
