Panhellenic Confederation of Unions of Agricultural Cooperatives (PAS) – Greece


Founded in 1935, Panhellenic Confederation of Unions of Agricultural Cooperatives, a non profit organization, is the highest ideological, professional and co-ordinating body of the Hellenic Agricultural Co-operative Movement and represents 746.812 Greek Farmers, 6.350 Agricultural Co-operatives (1st level organisations) and 114 Unions of Agricultural Co-operatives (2nd level organisations). PAS closely collaborates with 25 Agricultural Cooperative Organization acting as Central Cooperative Organization, Association of Agricultural Cooperative Organization Or Cooperative Companies.

The objective of the Vocational training Centre department of PAS is “The development of the Human resources of the agricultural cooperatives through teaching, training and updating”. Training and information provision  for human work force is the most crucial factor for the improvement of economic, social and culture statues of agricultural population. PAS founded the Cooperative School of Thessaloniki in 1965. Their activities include: Training for Elected staff cooperative members and managers, Unemployed persons of rural families, Farmers on new agricultural techniques, Unemployed persons which are entering the rural profession, Unemployed persons which entering the farms or cooperative firms or private non profit and public organisations.

Role in the project


PAS as coordinator of the project supervises all the administration and management tasks with the help of TTZ as scientific manager of project. Information compilation in Greece, development of EQS and Energy Auditing Tool; dissemination of the result to and training of regional cooperatives and  greenhouse growers of South and East Europe.
